EastEnders fans are rooting for romance between Shirley Carter and newcomer Konrad Topolski

WILL they or won’t they? It was the burning question on EastEnders’ fan lips tonight as the chemistry between Shirley Carter and newcomer Konrad Topolski hotted up.
The barmaid and local shop owner joined forces to plan the Polish-themed night for the Queen Vic and viewers.
And not only did Shirley look happy to have him in her kitchen, as she asked him for “all the help we can get”, but fans were rooting for them to get together, predicting a new romance in Walford.
One wrote, “Shirley about to get a new man,” while another added: “I really want Shirley and Konrad to get together.”
Another said, “New couple alert – Shirley and Kondrad (sic),” while one viewer commented: “A new fella for Shirley? Tis about time!”
And another joked: “Shirley and Konrad are the new Kimye.”
And it seems that this has been the plan among the EastEnders writers all along after it was revealed this week that things do progress between the pair.
In scenes to be shown next week, Konrad offers to mend the pub’s leaky roof at half the price.
Then he asks Shirley out for dinner – but will she accept?
Shirley, played by Linda Henry, has had her fair share of failed romances since she arrived in Walford in 2006.
She was married to Kevin Wicks, played by Phil Daniels, and then had a relationship with Vinnie Monks, played by Bobby Davro.
But Shirley is still harbouring feelings for Phil Mitchell, played by Steve McFadden, but that ends when his son Ben kills her best friend Heather.
She has an affair with Phil while he is planning his wedding to Sharon and then gets back together with her ex Buster Briggs, but he cheats on her with Kathy Beale.
