He was born George Alan O’Dowd in London in 1961 and has one sister and four brothers.

George was known for his androgynous dress style and fronted band Culture Club, which comprised of Ron Hay, Mikey Craig and Jon Moss.

Drummer Jon and George were involved in a relationship while their band enjoyed much success, but this was not known at the time. George has publicly spoken about their relationship numerous times. Their love affair was portrayed in BBC drama film Worried About the Boy, which featured Douglas Booth as George and Matthew Horne as Jon.

George also took part in the last series of The Voice on the BBC.

What is Boy George expected to speak about?

Boy George has always been candid and frightfully honest about his life, so expect to hear more about his Culture Club days when his tempestuous relationship with drummer Jon Moss caused havoc.

Boy George is set to speak about being jailed for falsely imprisoning a male escort

He will also speak about putting himself in jail in 2009 for falsely imprisoning male escort Audun Carlsen.

George says he regrets the incident — but will not apologise for it, claiming it was fuelled by drugs.

The 55-year-old also discusses his battle with heroin, his feud with the late George Michael and paying for the funeral of fellow Eighties star Pete Burns.

He will open up about his early life, which has been much less documented. George speaks about his relationship with his violent father and helping his mum through a suicide attempt at the tender age of just eight.
