EASTENDERS viewers were on edge during Thursday night’s hour long special – as Dot Cotton’s beloved cat Dave went missing.
During the episode that aired on Dot actress June Brown’s real life 90th birthday, viewers watched with baited breath as Dave went missing within Dot’s home.
It was a testament to June’s acting that she was able to convey her fears and affection for the missing moggie while sitting talking to an empty space for the majority of the hour long episode.
The former launderette worker was aided by Ian Beale as she searched for her cat behind her washing machine - however Dave was not there.

The character then realised that Dave had likely bolted through an open door – and she then feared her feline friend would have been killed by a fox.
But all was well in the end as Jack Branning and his young family found Dave outside eating chicken from bins and helped return him to Dot – who was overjoyed to be reunited with her friend.

Elsewhere in the episode, fans were baffled when Mick Carter (played by Danny Dyer) called a male punter in the Queen Vic “Darling”.
Many took to Twitter to comment on the amusing moment near the episode climax.
"I love how Mick just called a bloke at the bar 'Darling'. Though, he looked more like a 'ta love' to me. #EastEnders," one viewer wrote on the social media app.
"Did Mick Carter just call a bloke "Darling" then at the bar #eastenders," wrote another, not believing their ears.
"Asif Mick carter just called a bloke darling when serving him a pint #eastenders," another commented in disbelief.
Meanwhile other fans were stunned by the reveal that Lee Carter has been hiding out on a park bench and called his dad, Mick, for a show down.
The troubled character called his father to demand a meeting having previously struck wife Whitney - and, unknown to Lee, Mick had kissed her.
"#Eastenders i thought we'd seen the last of Lee?" wrote one confused fan.
While another commented: "I thought he left the show.. what are you doing to us. Relieved isn't the word that he's still here. #EastEnders".
