June couldn't keep the smile off her face as she was surprised with several tiered cakes on top of a washing machine, to symbolise the launderette she's worked in on the square for years.

The actress was presented with a huge bouquet of flowers and beamed as she was greeted by her co-stars at the surprise party on the EastEnders set.

She looked chic in a brown long-length jacket with her hair styled in her trademark curls.

Meanwhile, the EastEnders cast weren't the only ones paying tribute to the iconic actress as Coronation Street also marked her milestone birthday by sharing a clip of her on the soap back in 1971.

Introducing the video posted on Corrie's Twitter page, actress Sally Dynevor - who plays Sally Webster - wished June many happy returns from the entire cast.

She said: "Hi June, I just want to wish you a very happy 90th birthday, we've got a big surprise for you because you were in Coronation Street in 1971 and we just want you to take a look at this..."

The film then cut to archive footage of June in a scene with legendary Coronation Street character Ena Sharples, played by Violet Carson.

In the black and white video, the women share a cup of tea while discussing June's character Mrs Parsons' son and his education.

Wearing a smart dress and her hair pulled back off her face with a hair band, June is still recognisable as the face EastEnders viewers have come to know and love in the last 30 years, while Violet sports Ena's infamous hairnet for the scene.

After her short stint in Weatherfield, June went on to star in movies and more TV shows before landing her iconic role as Dot in the BBC soap.

To mark her time on the show and her milestone birthday, will be honoured with a BBC special, June Brown at 90: A Walford Legend, which will be screened tonight on BBC One.
