New Zealand soap goes viral after hilariously dramatic PENIS cliffhanger as father confronts his son over sexting
Shortland Street's sexting storyline has unintentionally had the internet in hysterics
SOAPLAND is a dramatic place but some things just cannot be turned into cliffhangers.
While the British soaps know this, others across the world are less experienced in perfecting an episode’s ending and now New Zealand soap Shortland Street has gone viral with a penis themed cliffhanger.
In the show teenager Harry Warner had enjoyed a day out with his girlfriend Lily before arriving home and being confronted by his dad brandishing the family’s iPad.
As his dad swiftly kicked his girlfriend out and sent her home, Harry asked him why he was being so rude and the hilarity began.
“I’ll show you rude. The tablet is still synced with your phone,” dad Chris said perfectly calmly before it all goes a bit am dram.
“Please tell me that is not your penis?!” he shouts as his son looks confused at the screen and the drums begin.
It’s not know why Dr Chris is so concerned about the explicit picture on his iPad, whether it’s down to the business of sexting or whether there’s a medical reason behind his fury.
The unintentionally hilarious scene has gone viral online and brought Shortland Street to the world’s attentions.
The show’s producer is delighted with the attention her show has received for the storyline.
“As soon as I read that script I was like, that is the cliff hanger of the year, for me.
“It’s a comedy story, but like all good comedy there’s a truth at the core of it, and it is social commentary, that story,” she told .
“Many teens are doing stuff like this, and many parents are worried about it.”
