ADELE has revealed how the now iconic introductory line to her hit single Hello originally started on a slightly more depressing note.
Speaking to the Grammy awards press about how much success she has experienced with the award-wining track, the singer admitted: "Hello actually started with the lyric 'Hello misery'
"So I'm sure you can imagine the mood I was in when I was writing that... f*****g miserable. But Greg Kurstin who I wrote it with was like, 'Hmm I'm not sure about that the line. It's a bit weird.' So he changed it."
The British superstar explained how she had struggled to find her groove again while writing the album 25 as she said: "I was gone for so long and had my baby and raised him and slowly edged my way back to work. I honestly didn't think people would still care about me."
But it was made clear that fans around the world are still in love with the musicians work as she found herself picking up five gongs at Sunday night's Grammys.
For her album 25, the singer bagged the Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album and for her single Hello she won Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
She opened the ceremony with a rousing performance of her hit single Hello but then the star suffered an on-stage disaster when she had to restart her tribute song to George Michael half way through after a glitch.
Then the singer found herself sobbing after receiving her final award for Album of the Year for 25, commenting that she couldn't accept the award because she felt it should have gone to Beyonce.
Even the Lemonade singer was struggling to keep back the tears as Adele gave a heartfelt speech praising her.
Speaking about her comeback, she said that it "took an army" to help her get her latest album off the ground.
Adele said: "I struggled and I still do struggle being a mum but this made me feel in some way like I have got some of myself back again."
But she glanced down to where Beyonce and her family were sitting and said: "I can't accept this award because, for me, Beyonce, Lemonade was amazing.
"It was so monumental and so soul bearing. We saw another side of you that we don't always get to see. We adore you, you are our light. The way you make me feel, and the way you make my black friends feel, is amazing. I love you so much, I always have and always will."
