Politician claims Wayne Lineker has only himself to blame for being knocked out in 4am Ibiza attack
A POLITICIAN has claimed bar boss Wayne Lineker has only himself to blame for being knocked out in a 4am street attack.
He was punched in the face trying to protect a female friend in San Antonio, Ibiza.
Local left-wing leader Antonio Lorenzo said that he was sorry to hear of the attack.
But he then linked it to the type of tourism promoted by the millionaire club owner — insisting he was a victim of his “offer of excesses and drunkenness”.
Lorenzo also blamed right-wingers, who won a landslide in the island’s municipal elections last year, for allowing such a culture to flourish.
Wayne, 62 — brother of football pundit Gary — said he felt “very fortunate” to escape with “a few stitches and a swollen lip”.

He added: "Obviously the video is very disturbing to see especially for my family.
"The papers were very accurate and it was a simple case of me just trying to protect a girl from being harassed.
"Thank you everyone for all your messages of concern. The support has been really overwhelming.”
Police in Ibiza said yesterday Lineker has yet to press charges over the horrific assault he suffered.
A reveller thought to be a pal of the thug who knocked him out with his left fist was filmed starting a WWE-style count as he lay unconscious on the ground.
