THERE was quite the shock on The Voice tonight when the judges BROKE a core rule of the show by bringing back a contestant who didn't get through.
None of the judges turned for opera singer Ciara Harvies but Gavin Rossdale and Will.I.Am insisted on speaking to her after her failed audition.
Previously, the judges turned around to meet each act even if the judges didn't put them through to the next round.
But now none of the contestants are allowed to meet the judges and must walk away without speaking to them if they're not picked.
However, tonight the rule was broken when Ciara walked off stage crying and Will and Gavin decided to bring her back.
The 18-year-old had wowed the audience with her vocals but the judges said they made a mistake after none of them picked her.
As she got off stage and hugged her family, host Emma Willis told her the judges wanted to see her.
She led her out and Gavin and Will gave her a big hug and told her she had done a "beautiful job".
Ciara later told Emma that meeting the judges had "softened the blow" of not being picked.
Fans at home were shocked and many took to Twitter to express their amazement that Ciara was brought back out on stage.
Many thought it was cruel to bring her back and not put her through.
One said: "I would of been even more pissed! Bring u back only to tell her you should have turned!! Nice to know but u still didn't turn #TheVoiceUK."
Another wrote: "Just in case she wasn't upset enough...call her back...and not pick her again! #TheVoiceUK"
A third added: "Defeats object of programme. What about all the others you didn't turn for. If you thought she was that good, why didn't you #TheVoiceUK."
Others thought they should focus more on opera singers with one fan writing; "It's about time we had an opera singer on the @thevoiceuk that girl was stunning, such a shame... and only 18... #talent #opera #thevoiceuk."
Another said: "Ciara's voice 😱 I love when you expect the unexpected moments when it comes to auditions, completely takes you by surprise. #TheVoiceUK."
The Voice UK continues at 8pm on Saturdays on ITV.
