Helen was targeted by cruel trolls who criticised her acting skills following her big return to the show as Rosie Webster.

She hit back today by taking to Instagram to share a graphic featuring a defiant message.

It showed the words: “No matter how rich, cool, educated, or talented you believe you are, how you treat people ultimately tells all.

“Integrity is everything.”

Helen, 26, later took over the Corrie Twitter  page to host a question-and-answer session with fans - and she faced another barrage of abuse over her acting.

Trolls flooded the Q&A with nasty messages as Helen attempted to field questions.

One wrote: "When are you and your bad acting leaving Corrie so I can watch it again???"

Another added: "They could have employed a chair leg it would have been less wooden."

Today Helen was defended by her castmate Michelle Keegan, who liked the actress' defiant Instagram post, while her on-screen sister, actress Brooke Vincent, commented: “[love] my girl.”

Brooke also took to Twitter to defend her friend, posting a picture of the words: “Don’t let anyone EVER dull your sparkle,” alongside an emoji for two women, a peace sign and a love heart.

The row has not affected Helen's relationship with ITV - as her Corrie contract has been extended until December.

She had only been due to stay on the Cobbles for three months, but she will now be a part of the cast until the end of the year.

Helen returned to the cobbles with an almighty bang after five years away – and her character Rosie has brought trouble with her as police searched her dad Kevin’s house.

Having returned from the US with her sister Sophie, the pair found themselves on the wrong side of the law as they were taken into custody.

The police had ransacked their house and found a bag of suspicious-looking powder in Rosie's luggage, which she claimed was "sweetener for her tea".

Rosie and Sophie were let go after being interrogated.
