SINGER Djidja Cardoso, 32, has been found dead at home by her family after a suspected overdose.

The folk musician, who performed in the band Boi Garantido, was discovered on Tuesday by traumatised loved ones.

Her death is thought to have been caused by the horse tranquilliser ketamine, which is often used illegally as a recreational drug.

A family friend confirmed the tragic news and said that her family had attempted to reach her on the phone for several hours before finding her.

Eventually, they discovered her unresponsive in bed at around 6am.

She lived in Manaus, northwestern Brazil.

Officials are conducting an autopsy as her cause of death is not yet confirmed - although cops suspect a ketamine overdose.

The 32-year-old was mostly active in the music industry between 2016 and 2020.

After taking a step back from performing, she opened her BelleFemme beauty salon in the Amazon region.

Djidja rose to fame after her show at the Parintins Folk Festival, a three-day cultural celebration native to the area in Brazil.

She had 65,000 followers on social media and regularly shared posts about the festivals she performed at with fans.

The young singer also shared her workouts online.

During her festival years, Djidja was known as the "Little Girl of Boi Garantido".
