NICK Grimshaw admitted he was 'freaking out' last night before filling in for Chris Evans on Virgin Radio this week.
The 39-year-old is on air this week from Tuesday to Friday while Chris, 58, is on holiday with his family.
Listeners can usually catch Chris on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show weekdays from 6.30am to 10am.
But this week they will be treated to DJ Nick, who left his drive time slot with Radio 1 back in 2021.
Nick opened the show with: “Hey, it's nice to be here, everybody.
"My name is Nick Grimshaw, and I am going to be playing the role of Chris Evans on Breakfast all this week. He is off. So I am on. And a really nice thing to be asked to do.

“Love the radio. Love breakfast radio. Love Chris Evans. Win win win for me."
He continued: "I did have a slight existential crisis last night.
“I went for lunch with a fellow radio DJ, the BBC's Clara Amfo. Oh well, not anymore, actually. She's left. Maybe she'll come and work here.
"And I said to her last night that I feel a bit nervous about the radio. Not done it for ages. And she was like, ‘Yes, it's weird innit’.

“And I'm like, do you know what? It is quite weird that I'm sat in this room alone at the top of a tower and you're all listening, just me in here and you out there.
“I struggled last night with, like, sort of pre-show nerves a little bit, terrible sleep, you know, when you know you’ve got something new to do the next day.
"You're like, freaking out a little bit. So I had that.”
Chris originally presented the Radio 2 Breakfast Show between 2010 and 2018, after taking over from Terry Wogan.
Zoe Ball took over Chris when he left the Beeb and Virgin Radio show - The Chris Evans Breakfast Show - was created in 2019.
Nick joined BBC Radio 1 in 2007.
He replaced Chris Moyles as host of Radio 1 Breakfast in 2012, then in 2018 he swapped with Greg James' drive time slot.
Earlier this month Lenny Henry revealed the secrets behind his three stone weight loss during an interview with Chris on Virgin Radio.
The 65-year-old previously stunned fans when he showed off his body transformation.
He said: "I do yoga, I don’t eat what I used to.
"My family was… ‘if you leave anything, you’re sleeping outside’.
"So we used to have to eat everything mum put on your plate.
"I love to eat but I’m diabetic so I had to."
He continued: "We’d do training in the morning and more training in the evening.

"We had six weeks of rehearsals and by the end of that six weeks I’d lost a stone. I thought, ‘I might as well carry on doing this’.
