MAKE OR BREAK?

Eastenders spoilers: Lee and Whitney Carter head on romantic Valentine’s Day date to try and work through their marriage woes

Every since the couple got hitched at Christmas they have been slowly drifting apart

IT'S SAFE to say that Eastenders' Lee and Whitney Carter haven't had the smoothest of starts to their marriage.

First off Lee has been secretly battling depression (which led to a suicide attempt) and his desperation led to his family being held up in the Queen Vic as he staged a break-in with bullies from his work - who then fled with the cash.

Whitney hasn't been perfect either, and after growing apart from her new hubby, snogged her father-in-law Mick Carter after a near death experience saw her trapped under a double-decker bus.

So the pair, who have both become aware their marriage is failing, try to rekindle their flame by heading out for a romantic meal for Valentine's Day.

However, as the pair wine and dine, will the secrets they've been hiding suddenly be out in the open?

Love never does run smoothly, but that's even more obvious in the confines of Albert Square.

Whitney and Lee's night out comes as a treat for the pair - who have been struggling with crippling debt over the past few months.

Lee attempted to hide how bad things had gotten from his new wife, but as with all things in Walford, the truth did eventually come out.

In the new pictures of the upcoming episode, the pair are in Ian Beale's restaurant and Lauren Branning (Jaqueline Jossa) waits on them as they appear to have a heated conversation.

The new scenes are set to air as Danny-Boy Hatchard, who plays the troubled former soldier Lee, prepares to leave the soap for good.

Bosses have kept under wraps how exactly Danny is going to leave - with his storyline offering a series of possible exit strategies.

Theories over how and why he leaves has been subject to much fan speculation - with everything from a suicide to running away after murdering his dad Mick coming up in conversation.

This theory began circulating after someone edited Danny-Boy's Wikipedia page to read: "He was axed [from EastEnders] in 2016, and will leave the soap in 2017 after killing his father Mick Carter in a dramatic fight outside Archers [sic] over his debt."

The actor tweeted a screen grab of the entry, dismissing the notion with the comment: "Wikipedia makes me laugh. Next it'll say Piers Morgan is a feminist and Donald Trump is black..."

Catch Eastenders on Mondays Thursdays and Fridays at 7.30/8pm on BBC1.
