Coronation Street’s Brook Vincent says she ‘loves’ having Helen Flanagan back as her on-screen sister Rosie after asking producers if she could return to Weatherfield
Helen's character Rosie will be returning to Corrie next week
CORONATION Street's Brooke Vincent says she loves having Helen Flanagan back as her on-screen sister Rosie and also revealed she's partly responsible for her returning to Weatherfield.
The 24-year-old actress - who portrays Sophie Webster in the long-running soap - played a major hand in the brunette beauty's return to the cobbles because she approached the show's producer Kate Oates prior to her leaving for theatre last year.
Speaking Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning, Brooke said: "I had a little bit of a hand in Helen's return. Before I left, I was speaking to Helen and I said: 'You should come back.'
"And she said: 'Darling I'd love to come back.' So when I was speaking to Kate Oates, who is our producer, before I left [to do a play], I said: 'Do you reckon we could bring Helen back for a bit?'
"And she said: 'Well, I'll see.' And the next thing we're on our way back."
She continued: "It's good, it's nice to have her back. When you've grown up with somebody and they are pretty much like your sister, to be back together you reminisce on all the times you've had together.
"You remember why you were friends in the first place. She's lovely and I love her so much. It's nice to have a laugh with her again."
Helen - who plays bolshie Rosie Webster in the ITV show - left the ITV soap five years ago to explore other ventures but she's thoroughly enjoyed being back on set in Manchester with her old cast mates recently.
While her return is something fans are excited for, Brooke doesn't know how long the 26-year-old actress will be around for because she's got to juggle her work life with caring for her 15-month-old daughter Matilda, who she has with Scott Sinclair.
Brooke explained: "I don't know how long she's back for. I hope she's back for a while. I love having her around but I'm not sure.
"Obviously she's got baby Matilda now so I don't know if she'll want to go off and be a mum again for a bit so I don't know."
Meanwhile, Helen revealed she and Scott are living miles apart while she's back on Corrie.
The 26-year-old has moved with their daughter Matilda, 18 months, to her parents’ house in Manchester so she can work her three-month Coronation Street contract while Celtic player Scott stays in the family home in Glasgow.
However Helen says she’s enjoying only seeing Scott, 27, at the weekends.
She explained: “Me and Matilda live with mum and dad during the week and at weekends we’re in Glasgow with Scott.
“It’s really lovely actually, it’s nice to have a break.
“It’s not easy, but I really wanted to go back to work and I’ve always been really supportive of his career and he’s always been really supportive of mine.”
Helen’s return to Corrie as Rosie Webster will of course bring much drama after she inadvertently becomes a drug mule.
A source told The Sun: “Trouble is never far away from the Websters.
“This is the reason they wanted Helen back as Rosie as she immediately brings great storylines with her.
“Rosie tells Sophie someone planted the drugs on her, and is as shocked as her sister when she sees the white powder."
“The girls panic and decide to bury the drugs but Adam Barlow finds out what they have done and offers to sell the drugs for a fee
“But, Kevin’s business is struggling following an arson attack and he needs money. So he takes matters into his own hands.”
