CALL The Midwife viewers were left utterly "heartbroken" after fan favourite Nurse Patsy Mount left to be with her dying dad in Hong Kong.
Patsy, played by Emerald Fennell, was prompted to leave after an uncompromising Sister Ursula put restraining measures on all the nurses.
In the episode she ignored Sister Ursula's restrictions and rushed to the aid of her patient; a pregnant woman with achondroplasia.
Afterwards the Sister-In-Charge demanded what she had been doing.
She remarked snootily: "I made it clear, did I not, that there would be consequences had you ignored my orders?"
Nurse Mount replied: "Yes you made it very clear."
Sister Ursula remarked indignantly: "And you paid no heed? I thought you more responsible than that... and a better nurse."
But Nurse Mount remained firm: "I'm trying to be the best nurse and person I can be Sister."
The Sister-In-Charge said: "Well I feel myself obliged to dock your wages."
Rather than arguing with her, she commented as she gave her the money: "You can spare yourself the trouble - a refund..."
She then went on to say: "I became a nurse because I wanted to go above and beyond for my patients, to be where I was needed most. And right now it seems I'm needed elsewhere - in Hong Kong, with my dying father."
Nurse Mount then strode off, making for a great exit.
And while Call The Midwife fans loved her standing up to the nasty Sister, they were also left devastated that she would be leaving.
One commented in a tweet: "It's been 33 minutes and i already miss #patsy in #callthemidwife... time to come back now please @emeraldfennell! #faveactressever."
Another also pleaded: "Come back Pasty."
Later she and Delia were speaking to each other, Delia told her that she loved her - but they were denied one last kiss after someone burst in and told her that her car were there.
And fans were sad that they were denied one last goodbye kiss.
A viewer tweeted: "Stop interrupting Patsy and Delia!!!! You couldn't even let them kiss goodbye..wtf??"
Another commented: "PLEASE why can't Patsy and Delia just be happy together. Shall we picket the BBC?"
But there's no need to be too upset - as it looks like Patsy will be back in the future.
