Who is Liam Macaulay?

Liam, who met TV star wife Candice in a pub, is originally from north of the border up in Scotland.

He now lives with Candice in Bedford, though their life is far from peaceful due to the number of pets they have.

The couple share their home with their adorable pug Dennis - who incidentally has his own  and  accounts - plus Sybil the Pomeranian and Harry the bulldog.

Elusive Liam avoids social media with no Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat account so those hoping to get a sneak peek into his life will have to make do with the occasional snap from Candice on her  page.

The pair appears to be very happy together and Candice - who won The Great British Bake Off in 2016 - has gushed about their relationship on many occasions.

In a 2016 Candice said: “Liam is my biggest support. He tells me every day that he's so proud of me.”

Is Liam Macaulay getting married to Candice Brown?

The TV star recently revealed that she said her "I do"s with boyfriend Liam, 31, in a secret wedding in France.

It follows her hen do in Las Vegas, after which she hit back at fans assuming she was pregnant because of the way her belly looks in the photos she shared.

In October 2017 Candice confirmed they had got engaged after rumours swirled for months that they were heading down the aisle.

Reflecting on the proposal, Candice explained: "I get emotional. Because it's been such an amazing year. I feel very lucky.

"I've had such incredible opportunities – GBBO opened so many doors – and to top it off he puts a ring on it."

She also revealed that Liam had proposed to her in a car park where they had spent time on their first date and that she had cried for five minutes before saying yes.

It came nine months after Liam said he would "of course" be marrying Candice during an interview at the National Television Awards.

Liam has not commented on pictures of Candice sharing an intimate kiss with Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood at the Pride of Britain Awards at the beginning of November 2017.

Why was Liam Macaulay sent to prison?

Things haven't always been rosy for Liam as a year before he met Candice in April 2012, he served a 16-month jail term for dealing cannabis.

Police arrested him and an accomplice after they were caught with six packs of the drug, worth an estimated £6,970, in his car as they drove from Edinburgh to Inverness in 2009.

Candice herself had nothing to do with the crime at all and was not dating the Scotsman at the time.

The revelation did shock some viewers of the family-friendly show, but it didn't affect the baker's chances as she still took first prize in the competition.

Bake Off fans were won over by Liam's obvious affection for Candice during the final of the show.

One Twitter user said: "I was beaming till I saw Candice's boyfriend get tearful. Then both me and my mum started crying in unison."

While another playfully added: "Ooh hello taking a minute to appreciate Candice's boyfriend!"
