When did Ed Sheeran tickets go on sale?

Tickets for the tour went on sale on Thursday 2 February, following a presale on Tuesday 31 January - and they sold out almost immediately, leaving thousands of fans frustrated.

Additional dates in London at the O2 Arena on 3 May and 22 June (the latter for the venue's 10th birthday celebration) also sold out in minutes.

And it was the same story for his extra date at Royal Albert Hall on 28 March, in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Can I still buy Ed Sheeran tickets for face value?

Before the sale, Ed Sheeran named Twickets as the official resell partner.

Twickets allows fans to sell unwanted tickets for face value (or less), with the buyer paying just a small admin charge.

So, yes, there’s still hope of getting in at a reasonable price if you've missed out in the official sale - but only if purchasers put them on the market.

If you really don't mind paying over the odds - often many, many times the face value - check out other secondary agents such as  and .

But be warned. One fan claims she may have to sell her car and move house after mistakenly forking out £1300 for three gig tickets on Viagogo.

Charlotte Duckworth thought she was paying £440 for three tickets but soon discovered she had been charged around £291 PER TICKET, plus a £280 booking fee, £22 delivery fee and £65 in vat.

Here at The Sun, we're calling for a crackdown on touts with our Clout The Touts campaign.

What has Ed Sheeran said about the ticket touting?

A rep for the singer made the following statement to the Press Association:

“We are vehemently opposed to the unethical practices that occur in the secondary market.

"We have written to each of our partners, be them promoters, venues or ticketing companies detailing the way in which we expect tickets to be sold: direct to fans.

"We have also partnered with a company called Twickets which is a site aimed at the ethical resale of tickets, which allows fans to swap tickets at face value or less; we are pushing them as the official resale partner and a safe place for fans to swap tickets.

"We are aware and deeply concerned about the websites in question and have urged all fans not to engage with them in order to avoid being ripped off with higher prices or, potentially, counterfeit tickets. Once again, we urge all fans to only purchase tickets through official vendors.”

How much were the tickets? What's the face value?

Tour tickets weren't exactly cheap in the first place.

Via Seetickets, tickets for the O2 Arena in London cost £84.25 to stand and £51.25 or £84.25 for a seat (plus transaction fee).

Tickets at other venues were a little cheaper - £77 to stand and £44 or £77 for a seat (plus fee).

Prices may vary a little according to the ticket agent.

Who is supporting Sheeran on tour?

Supports acts on then UK and European legs of his tour are Anne-Marie and Ryan McMullan.

The former is best known for her guest vocals on Clean Bandit’s No.1 hit Rockabye.

Ryan McMullan is an up and coming singer-songwriter from Belfast.

Ed Sheeran has played Glastonbury twice before, but 'dreams' of headlining the festival

Is Ed Sheeran playing Glastonbury Festival 2017?

After playing Glastonbury in 2011 and 2014, Sheeran has reportedly said it's his 'dream' to headline the festival.

And, yes, that dream is set to come true on the evening of Sunday 25 June when he takes the Pyramid Stage.

Tickets for Glastonbury Festival have sold out, but a small batch of 'returns' are due on sale soon.
