KEN Dodd sparked shock as he made an awkward mistake live on air at the National Television Awards tonight.

The 89-year-old star accidentally announced Mrs Brown's Boys twice when reading out the nominations for best comedy program, instead of Orange Is The New Black, before realising his mistake.

Walking on stage, he shouted: "What a magnificent shed," before stumbling over his words as he struggling to read his note card.

He then added: "The nominations for comedy program are... Mrs Brown's Boys... Oh wrong one, Orange is the New Black... Is that right?"

Mrs Brown's Boys eventually won the award, and the lead character Brendan O'Carroll joked: "To be nominated twice in the same category is amazing, we so appreciate it."

However, Ken was flooded with praise from viewers at home, who applauded him for taking to the stage.
