EASTENDERS fans are convinced a HUGE twist is on the way following this week's bus crash as they fear the real victim will be Lee Carter - not his wife Whitney.

Viewers were left on the edge of the seat's at the end of tonight's episode when Danny Dyer's character Mick Carter realised his daughter-in-law might be trapped under the wreckage.

Queen Vic landlord Mick heard Whitney's phone ringing from under the bus wreck, prompting fears she had been caught up in the chaos.

But EastEnders fans are now speculating that it is not Whitney who is trapped under the bus, but her husband Lee.

The actor who plays Mick's eldest son Lee, Danny-Boy Hatchard, has confirmed he is leaving the show and has even filmed his final scenes.

Viewers flocked to social media tonight to voice their theories that Lee might have his wife's phone and is the real victim lying trapped under the bus after stepping in to save a little boy.

One wrote: "@danboy im gunna be so guttered if your the one under that bus ive just cried my eyes out #eastenders."

Another added: "I think its Lee #eastenders," and one tweeted: "It's not gonna be Whit under the bus.

"It'll be lee who happens to have whitneys phone!!!! #eastenders."

Another viewer tweeted: "#eastenders it probably isn't Whitney under the bus, I wouldn't be surprised if Babe or Lee had picked up Whit's phone for whatever reason."
