EastEnders ‘Disaster Week’ will NOT include a Tube crash after bus smashes into Albert Square

EASTENDERS fans can breathe a sigh of relief - as its been confirmed a Tube train WON'T smash into Albert Square following the bus crash.

Fans of the BBC One soap watched the horror unfold on Monday night after a red double decker London bus careered into the market outside the Queen Vic, leaving the lives of a number of characters potentially at risk.

But after the vehicle smashed into the bridge which carries the Tube line overhead during the carnage, many viewers were left speculating that an Underground train would join the bus in wrecking Walford.

However This Morning's queen of soaps, Sharon Marshall, reassured fans on Tuesday's show that EastEnders wouldn't be following in the footsteps of its ITV rival, which aired a dramatic tram crash in 2o10.

Host Holly Willoughby asked: "It looked like the bridge, with the train, would be coming..."

But Sharon interjected, saying: "No it's not going to happen, it's not going to be like Coronation Street.

"I know a lot of people are thinking 'oh Linda was on the Tube, is that going to be involved?'... No it's not going to be that."

The revelation comes after soap bosses were forced to issue a statement on Tuesday morning insisting the scenes weren't inspired by the terror attacks in Berlin or Nice.

Some fans were left less than happy at its eerie similarity to the Berlin attack – that left twelve people dead after a truck deliberately drove through a busy marketplace in December.

As well as this, there was also the Bastille Day attack in Nice, where 86 were killed when a heavy goods vehicle drove straight into a crowd of revellers.

However, Eastenders bosses were quick to dispel thoughts that these attacks were in any way the source of inspiration behind the gruesome scenes on the BBC1 soap.

A spokesperson told The Sun Online: "EastEnders is a fictional drama and the crash in tonight's episode was not based on any real-life event. We are always mindful of the content within our episodes."
