New host Michelle Ackerley reveals that The One Show allows her to finally show her personality
MICHELLE Ackerley has she has enjoyed being able to show more of her personality while hosting the One Show following years of hosting more serious programmes.
The presenter, who is filling in for Alex Jones while she's on maternity leave, has previously hosted Watchdog and Crimewatch Roadshow.
Michelle said that fronting the BBC One Show alongside Matt Baker has been "the perfect balance of light-hearted and some hard-hitting stuff".
Speaking to Press Association, she said: "Coming from Watchdog, if you cracked a smile, it's highly inappropriate.
"But my background is children's TV and my personality is more what you see on The One Show so it's lovely to have an opportunity to let that come out."
She added that her co-host Matt had been "so supportive" and "passionate".
Michelle revealed: "He is a lovely guy and we clicked and naturally as the weeks have gone on we have found a rhythm and that natural friendship level of presenting and comfort that it doesn't feel strained."
The new host admitted that she had felt anxious before she started the job.

Michelle is appearing on Mondays and Tuesdays, with Angela covering Thursdays and Fridays, while they are both alternating on Wednesdays.
