Christie Brinkley, 70, reveals skin cancer diagnosis and shows her face ‘stitched up to perfection’ in post-surgery pics
CHRISTIE Brinkley has revealed that she was diagnosed with skin cancer in an emotional social media post.
On Wednesday, the supermodel shared pics from a recent surgery she had on her forehead.
Christie, 70 - who was famous in the early 1980s for her Sports Illustrated swimsuit covers - shared some makeup-free and unedited of herself on Instagram.
The star was seemingly lying in a bed covered in hospital gear while recovering from surgery.
In the snaps, Christie shared what her open wound looked like on the left side of her eyebrow.
She shared a lengthy post revealing that she had Basal cell carcinoma - a type of skin cancer that develops on the skin that is exposed to the sun.
"The good news for me is we caught the basal cell Carcinoma early. And I had great Doctors that removed the cancer and stitched me up to perfection like an haute couture Dior," she stated in her caption.
"The good news for you is that all of this can be avoided by being diligent with your sun protection! I got serious a bit late so now for this ole mermaid/gardener, I’ll be slathering on my SPF 30, reapplying as needed, wearing long sleeves and a wide-brim hat. And doing regular total body checkups..that is a MUST!
"I was lucky to find mine because I was accompanying one of my daughters to HER checkup .. The Doctor was looking at each freckle with a magnifying glass… it wasn’t my appointment so I wasn’t going to say anything but at the VERY end I asked if he could just look at a little tiny dot I could feel as I applied my foundation.
"He took a look and knew immediately it needed a biopsy! He did it then and there! So make your own good luck by making that check up appointment today. And slather up my friends!"
She concluded by thanking the doctors who conducted her surgery.

Fans flocked to the comment section to send well wishes to the mother of three.

The cover girl first posed for a glam selfie with her makeup artist, showing off her forever-youthful appearance in her dressing room.
The actress had her hair pinned up in curls as she smiled brightly in a lowcut black dress that put her cleavage on display.
For a second selfie, Christie showed off her famous smile from a side angle, flaunting very few wrinkles despite her seven decades.
The Vegas Vacation star also included a video while she sat in the hair and makeup chair with her stylists.
She captioned her post, "At the SI Swimsuit 60th Anniversary Legends Shoot..Enjoying the Glam portion of the day! I always learn new hair and makeup tips and it was so WONDERFUL to catch up with @sirjohn.
