Alex Jones ‘shocked’ at the size of her baby bump as she countdowns to the arrival of her first child

ALEX Jones has expressed her "shock" at the size of her baby bump as she excitedly waits for the birth of her first child.

The One Show presenter bid an emotional goodbye to the BBC programme earlier this month as she headed off on maternity leave and now says she's "ready to pop".

Sharing a profile snap to showcase the size of her bump, she wrote: "Just caught my reflection whilst making some rice! Wow! I'm shocked even though I've grown it myself.

"Still not fed up of bump though. I think i'll miss it when the time comes. #countdownison #nearlyreadytopop #pregnancy #hugeandproud."

The 39-year-old is set to become a mum for the first time with her husband Charlie Thompson and couldn't hide her emotion as she said goodbye on The One Show.

While fighting back the tears, Alex said: “It’s the best team ever here and I’ll miss everyone very much.”

Alex was then handed a variety of gifts from guests Gary Barlow and Mel Giedroyc.

Co-host Paddy Kielty also presented the pregnant star with an usual gift.

Alex looked amused as she received a pack of personalised nappies with their faces superimposed onto the packaging.

Paddy said: “Now this was supposed to be cute - I didn't realise how it was going to turn out.

"It looks like you're breastfeeding a Bond villain!"

Gary then offered some words of advice to Alex, telling her to make sure she invests in a high-quality camera so that she can take lots of great photos of the baby.

Alex will temporarily be replaced on the show by Michelle Ackerley and Angela Scanlon while she enjoys some time off with her baby.
