She has spoken in the past about losing a baby in 1999, but on today's Loose Women, she revealed she had suffered multiple miscarriages in her fight to become a mother.

Discussing whether it’s right for older women to have children, and how old is “too old”, the 40-year-old, who welcomed son Rafferty in February 2015, said: “I was in my late 30s when I had Rafferty and I tried for a long time to have him.

“I know that even as me at 40, I wish I could have had him earlier, because I know that whatever years I go, I know I’ll be cheated out of him.
“When you have wanted a child for a while and its so precious to you, I look at it from a very human emotional point of view of no one is ever going to be your mum again.”

When host Ruth Langford asked if she had tried for a long time to have children, Martine said she had, and that her well publicised battle with ME had been part of her struggle.
