The mother-of-three lost Archie, her son with ex-husband Jamie Lomas, back in 2009 when she gave birth after only 23 weeks.

Speaking in her OK! column, she revealed that Archie's death made her feel guilty - although she knew she had done nothing wrong.

She said: "There are themes of guilt and self-blame for our characters too and I know I felt a certain guilt about my situation, even though I had no control over what happened.

"I’ve heard from other women who feel the same way and I think it’s important to let them know that going through a situation like this is never, ever their fault."

"There were moments for both myself and Simon, who’s also experienced baby loss, that came from real places.

"In our minds, we were both back in the labour room – particularly the birth scene – and went to places in our heads that we’d both been before."

Kym previously revealed that bosses made sure that her and Simon had all the emotional support they needed to film the harrowing scenes.

She explained: “Coronation Street ensured that I had a counsellor on set at all times, but for me the best tonic after a hugely emotional day was to go home to my kids and be reminded of how lucky I am to have them.”

Bosses worked closely with stillbirth charity Sands on the episode.

The storyline will go on to show Michelle and Steve struggle with their loss.
