TOM Hardy has done nothing to dampen speculation he’s being lined up as the next James Bond.
The Taboo star has been touted as one of the actors to take over the iconic character from Daniel Craig but in an interview he refused to speak about the role for fear of jinxing it.
In an interview with , Tom couldn’t hide his excitement when asked about the possibility of Christopher Nolan taking over the franchise but stayed tight lipped about his involvement.
He said: “There’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race.
“So I can’t possibly comment on that one!”
His Inception director Chris has Tom’s full support however, with the 39-year-old saying: “Chris would be amazing!”
“Chris Nolan, what a fantastic director for a Bond movie.
“Because Daniel [Craig] is so good, and what [Sam] Mendes and Barbara [Broccoli] have done has been so impressive, that it would be a very hard reimagination to follow.
“I wonder what the next instalment of that franchise would become, and I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, that’s a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profound – again.”

Last month The Sun Online reported how Daniel had yet to confirm his return to the role, with talk of a £120 million pay day for two more films later being “debunked”.
An insider told The Mirror: “Daniel and MGM are currently at a stalemate with him having not spoken to them about Bond.
“They have offered a bigger wage deal, and asked about his filming availability to his reps in 2017, but as yet they have not spoken to Daniel.
“They want Bond 25 out in October 2018, but currently they have no Bond, film dates or knowledge of when that will change.
“Daniel’s commitment is also a key part of whether Sony Pictures will come in to co-finance the film. So much is hanging in the air – and no-one knows.”
Previously, Daniel appeared to want to distance himself from the role, controversially saying he’d rather slash his wrists than take on the part.
However it seemed he had a change of heart earlier in 2016, saying he had “the best job in the world.”
He added: I’ll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it.”
“If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly.”
