George Michael’s boyfriend Fadi Fawaz opens up about the singer’s ‘tough’ two months at an Australian rehab clinic as he battled anxiety issues
GEORGE Michael's boyfriend Fadi Fawaz has opened up about the singer's "tough" two months at an Australian rehab clinic as he battled anxiety issues.
Fawaz took to Twitter to discuss the tragic star's time Down Under, admitting "[I] miss my baby."
The former Wham! star was found dead at his Oxfordshire home on Christmas Day at the age of 53.
Fawaz, who was the one who discovered the body, has now opened up about his partner's battle with depression.
Michael spent two months at a £37,700-per week clinic in Byron Bay in 2013 to tackle anxiety issues.
Fawaz is said to have stayed been with Michael during his stint in Australia, and he has admitted the stretch was "tough" for the singer.
He responded to a message on Twitter which stated: "I remember you being with GM in Byron bay ,we spoke everyday coz it was a bit of a rough patch."
Fawaz replied: "I'm saying nothing :(, but 2 months will remember forever . Miss my baby...
"Even though were tough 2 months but I cherish them."
He went on to reveal the pair played snooker every night to pass the time.
Fawaz added: "September 2011 till December 2016 best years of my life. I will always forever miss you. Xxx."
It comes after a new report suggested Michael's grieving family may have to wait weeks until he can be laid to rest as his body has yet to be released by authorities as the investigation into his death continues.
With officers stepping up the probe, his family are now said to be worried they will not be able to hold a Greek Orthodox service for the 53-year-old star until February.
A source said: “George’s family want to lay him to rest and give him some peace but it could be weeks before his body is released by police.
“There is still a chance some kind of charges could be brought over his death and police won’t release the body until those lines of enquiry have been concluded.”
The source said that the wait for police to complete their investigations was making the family's grief "so much worse".
A major crime squad became involved in the investigation into Michael's death just a week after his body was found.
The family is said to have already organised the funeral details.
