Nick Knowles’ wife Jessica confirms marriage split revealing counselling didn’t work as she raises awareness for cervical cancer

JESSICA Knowles has opened up for the first time about her split from presenter Nick Knowles and her ordeal with cervical cancer.

The 28-year-old appeared on This Morning on Tuesday to open up about her traumatic 2016, which saw her split from the DIY SOS presenter, 54, and suffer a miscarriage just months before being diagnosed with cancer.

Brave Jessica told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that the pair split after a move to Spain created a rift in their relationship, but they are now completely “amicable.”

“People are confused by how well we get on. And the truth is we get a long really well, as at the end of the day we can say we tried really hard.

“More date nights, counselling, less time together, more time together. and when you look at each other at the end of the day when you know you gave it your all there’s no anger left there, no animosity.”

Jessica admitted though that last year was “very painful” with the added heartbreak of a miscarriage and cancer.

“It’s very painful,” she said.

“The last year was incredibly difficult but my way of dealing with it is to move forward and look to the future.”

Speaking about how she found out she had cancer, she said: “I was bleeding in between period and I assumed it was because I was stressed.

“A doctor suggested that I have a smear test and it came back as abnormal, I was diagnosed with precancerous cells before being told I had stage one cervical cancer that had spread to my pelvic lymph nodes.”

She confirmed that Nick was “very supportive” during this time and looked after their two-year-old son Eddie while she received treatment, however it was her mum she wanted with her.

“At that time I really wanted my mum – you know what security and that safety, so my mum came with me.

“She was there on the day I was told I had cancer and she continued to stage with me throughout treatment.

“I was really fortunate that at stage one cancer is treatable with surgery.”

Jessica appeared on the show to promote Cervical Cancer Awareness Week which is at the end of January, and is encouraging people to do a lipstick Smear For Smear selfie.

In November Jessica confirmed they were “dating” again after a turbulent and devastating year for the pair.

The couple, who have two-year-old son Eddie together, announced they had split just months ago, before Jessica was diagnosed with cervical cancer in another shocking blow.

While they have remained amicable throughout, Jessica later faced fresh agony as it was revealed Nick had enjoyed a brief romance with Emmerdale’s Gemma Oaten while they were apart.

In a recent interview, she revealed they have reconciled and are dating again.

“Yes, Nick and I are dating now. We are taking it slowly,” she told the Daily Mirror.

“We are getting to know each other again. In a way it feels like entering a new relationship.

“It is super-exciting. It is butterflies feelings, but with the added security of someone who has always been there for you.”

However in December they split amid rumours that Jessica suspected Nick of cheating.

A source close to the couple had told The Daily Star: “She and Nick aren’t together anymore.

“Things have gone t*ts up- he’s being a proper tw*t. they haven’t been getting on, partly because she suspects Nick has been mixed up with other women.”

The source also claimed that Jess had suspected something was going on between Nick and a 21-year-old blonde woman who is reportedly looking after his place: “She’s told friends she found ‘evidence in his house’ like women’s hair ties.”

They added that Jess thought that there was another woman in Bath and claimed that it was the “talk of the town”.

Locals in Nick’s area of Eton, Berks have reportedly said that the DIY SOS presenter was texting the 21-year-old over the summer.
