Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin confirms next book Winds of Winter WILL finally be released in 2017
Fans have waited six years for the next instalment in the author's fantasy series
GAME Of Thrones fans will finally be able to find out what happens next in the fantasy saga as author George R. R. Martin has confirmed his long-awaited next book will finally be released in 2017.
The TV drama has been based on the novelist's popular books, but the stories diverged in season six as the show overtook Martin's writing.
Devotees have faced a six-year wait after Martin, 68, delayed the release of his sixth book, The Winds of Winter.
But he has now confirmed the book is nearly done and he is hoping it will hit shops by the end of 2017.
In a post on his blog, he wrote: "[It is] not done yet, but I’ve made progress.
"But not as much as I hope a year ago, when I thought to be done by now.
"I think it will be out this year. But I thought the same thing last year.”
