Charlotte Church and Piers Morgan reignite feud after he brands her a ‘ridiculous creature’ for sending Donald Trump poo emojis
The songstress branded the President-Elect a 'tyrant' and turned down an opportunity to perform at his inaugeration ceremony.
CHARLOTTE Church has become the latest singer to refuse Donald Trump's request to perform at his inauguration ceremony - and unwittingly reignited a feud with Piers Morgan in the process.
The Welsh lass tweeted directly at the President-elect and said: "Your staff have asked me to sing at your inauguration, a simple Internet search would show I think you're a tyrant. Bye"
She followed up the sentiment with four smiling poop emojis to drive the point home - which didn't go unnoticed by Trump's pal, Piers Morgan.
The Good Morning Britain presenter responded to the tweet and wrote: "Oh pur-lease, he's never heard of you, you ridiculous creature."
Undeterred, Charlotte responded with the song 'I've Got You Under My Skin' by Frank Sinatra, alongside the message: "Just can't let it go with me can you darling....."
The pair then devolved into a bizarre exchange of video clips and songs to get their point across.
Piers responded to the Frank Sinatra classic by posting 'Something Stupid' and told her: "Right guy, @charlottechurch - wrong song title."
However, he seemed to forget that the song is a gushy love song professing someone's first moment of saying 'I love you' to their other half - so Charlotte took it as a compliment.
She posted: "Thank you sweetpea" alongside a clip from the Mask which sees the titular character cry out "You love me, you really love me!"
The pair have been butting heads since November when Charlotte did an interview with Vice magazine that branded the reporter a "f***ing t***" - two years after calling him a p**** in an interview.
Charlotte hasn't been the only star to reportedly reject Donald Trump's request to perform at his inauguration ceremony, which will see the businessman sworn into office as President of the United States on January 20.
Organisers of the event have been struggling to find people to come forward and perform at the ceremony.
X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson has reported that she was asked to perform at the ceremony - and said she would agree if she was allowed to sing protest song Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday.
Originally a poem by Abel Meeropol, Strange Fruit has been heralded as one of the first great protest songs and talks of lynching in the American South.
Jackie Evancho, a 16-year-old runner-up from America’s Got Talent, has been pinned to perform the American anthem, Star Spangled Banner.
It is also rumoured that the Beach Boys may perform, however in a statement they said: "No decision has been made at this point as to how or whether they will participate. We will let you know as soon as a decision is final.”
When vice-chairman of the inauguration committee, Anthony Scaramucci, hinted that Elton John would be singing, the Grammy Award winner was quick to dispel speculation.
A spokesperson for the star said: “Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration”.
Other artists that have allegedly turned Trump down include country singer Garth Brooks, Canadian mega-producer David Foster and Kiss frontman Gene Simmons.
Kanye West was spotted meeting with Trump shortly after the rapper suffered a mental breakdown, but he has not been confirmed either.
