Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter reveals the sex of her twins and admits she’s ‘talked about a C-section’ with fiancé Rudi Coleano
The star, who plays Chas Dingle in the soap, has opened up on her plans for her upcoming birth
EMMERDALE actress Lucy Pargeter has revealed she's expecting twin girls with her fiancé Rudi Coleano.
The actress, who plays Chas Dingle in the ITV soap, is five months pregnant and has now opened up on her upcoming birth.
After a scan on December 19, Lucy discovered right before Christmas that she's expecting girls.
"It’s two girls!" she told
"We found out at the five-month scan just before Christmas, and we’re just over the moon that they’re both healthy – it was the best Christmas present!"
The twins are due on May 3 but expected to arrive in mid-April, as twins are rarely allowed to go over 37 weeks.
Speaking about her birth plan, Lucy, 39, added: "We’ve talked about a C-section and a natural birth. With twins, you often have one naturally and one can end up being a C-section."
She went on: "The recovery time with a C-section is difficult afterwards, but a natural birth can be horrendous, too, so I’ll see how it goes."
Lucy is already mum to 11-year- old daughter Lola with fiancé Rudi, and she told the mag: "We still have two frozen embryos but I can guarantee they will be more girls.
"Mind you, most people say that when you go from two to three children, it’s a massive difference, so three to four might not be that bad."
The actress revealed she's pregnant in October last year.
And Lucy previously opened up about her difficult conceiving, saying: "Ever since Lola, we've been trying for 11 years and now we're expecting twins!
"We thought if it happens, it happens. But it never did. We just thought I was too stressed out with work or a house renovation.
"We never had any concerns about secondary infertility [the inability to fall pregnant after already giving birth to one or more children] because we had Lola so easily after six months of being together.
"It wasn't until three or four years ago that I was like, hang on, I'm not getting any younger.
"Women don't realise that it's not just you getting older, it's your eggs getting older and your egg reserves get less every year.
"There is so much pressure for women to concentrate on their careers before kids, but then they get to 38 onwards and their career is fine, but their body isn't."

The 39-year-old underwent IVF treatment last year but failed to become pregnant, but refusing to give up, the couple's luck changed and Lucy is now 19 weeks pregnant.
"The whole process is extremely hard. The not knowing, the wanting to get excited.
"For my age, the chance of it working was 20%, so we were pumping so much money into it and wanted it so badly, but it was completely out of our control.
"You can do everything right, but if those eggs don't want to stick, they won't."
Thankfully everything has worked out for the couple, and Lucy has a due date of May 3 next year, but as doctors don't allow women carrying twins go past the 37 week marker, the actress expects to give birth in the middle of April.
Lucy has been a favourite character on Emmerdale since 2002, also appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2013, coming third in the series won by Kian Egan.
