What did the Celebrity Big Brother 2017 winner get and how much were the cast paid? Housemate pay deals revealed
CELEBRITIES appearing on reality TV shows rarely give their time for free including those who appeared on the 2017 series of Celebrity Big Brother.
And some of their fees were pretty eye-watering to say the least!
So how much did this year’s motley crew get paid? And how do they compare to celebrity fees in previous series? We decided to take a look...
Speidi aka Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt
They were the first pair to enter the CBB house as part of the ‘All Stars’ group, having previously been on the show in 2013 and coming in second to winner Rylan Clark.
The reality TV couple, who married in 2009, are reportedly earning £570,000 between them for their return stint on the show.
Ray J
For the rapper’s first time in Celebrity Big Brother he was part of the ‘New Stars’ gang.
Bosses hoped he’d spill the beans about his relationship with Kim Kardashian so reportedly gave him £810,000- that’s $1million - for his appearance.
That would make him the highest-paid CBB housemate ever. Not only that, but according to TMZ, producers have also covered his £24,000 travel and hotel costs while he’s in the UK.
However, his time in the show proved to be short-lived – Ray J left the show after a week in the house, after reportedly "blacking out" as a result of intense toothache which saw him rushed to hospital.
He didn't show up to the live grand final show.
James Jordan
Like Speidi, James was a returning housemate, and, as revealed by the Sun, he was given a six-figure deal to come back after he first appeared on the show in 2014.
An show insider said: “The producers loved how feisty he was when he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2014 and they know he won’t hold back.”
Jedward
The X Factor twins who were this year's runners up originally took part in the show in 2011.
The Irish stars were reportedly paid £500,000 each six years ago so that can only have gone up considerably for their second stint on the show.
Katie Price
The glamour model entered the CBB house in early 2015 as a latecomer on the tenth day to a ball thrown in her honour.
She was announced the winner of the series and was reportedly paid half a million pounds.
David Gest
Until Ray J signed up for this current series, Gest topped the list of the highest paid CBB housemates with a similar fee to Kim K’s ex.
He was a housemate on the sixteenth series of the show which aired in January 2016 but he was forced to quit due to illness so he may not have pocketed all of that million dollars.
Katie Hopkins
The controversial journalist was runner-up to victor Katie Price in the fifteenth series of the show and was reportedly paid £400,000 for her time in the house.
Down the lower end of the pay spectrum, former housemates Kristina Rihanoff, Gemma Collins and Nancy Dell’Olio all reportedly walked away with £100,000. But reality TV stars Marnie Simpson, Stephen Bear and Chloe Khan were only believed to have made a five-figure sum.
What does the winner get?
There is no prize fund up for grabs in Celebrity Big Brother, but it’s been reported the winner could make £1million through endorsements, personal appearances and product placements.
Marketing expert Rob Cooper told The Mirror: “To win the show is like being giving validation that you have a huge fan base who are buying into you via vote lines, which is very enticing to
endorsers, bookers and producers.”
