In the hours that followed the 44-year-old took to Instagram with a heartfelt post.

She wrote: "For you Mum. Tonight’s performance was dedicated to the memory of my beautiful mum, Jackie Roberts.

"01.09.62 – 04.01.24. I didn’t want to say anything until I’d managed to get through our routine tonight. So apologies if it seemed I was overly emotional.

"My heart is broken and I miss my mum so much. Saying goodbye to her this week was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. My mum got to see the start of our routine… and tonight I wanted to finish it in her honour."

Adele said her family had been her strength, as well as many "amazing people" who offered her comfort by standing by her side.

She continued: "Thank you to the whole incredible Dancing On Ice team for guiding me through one of the toughest weeks of my life. Especially you Mark Hanretty."

Adele went on to say her mum had been her "biggest supporter from day one".

She continued: "I shall think of you and miss you every day of my life. Forever my hero. Until we meet again."

The star has had her own health battles, after undergoing surgery for bowel cancer in 2021.

She took to her Instagram account to share her story, in the hopes that it would "reach anyone who might benefit from seeing it or reading it".

Revealing that she would be undergoing surgery, Adele praised the NHS and urged anyone with symptoms to head to their GP, explaining that although she had been "embarrassed" to seek help after suffering digestion issues.

She added that felt "lucky" that her cancer was still treatable and that "early detection can save your life".

In June 2022, Roberts revealed that she was cancer free.
