Coleen Nolan – 8 things you didn’t know about the Loose Women panellist

Sir Cliff Richard helped her on her way to stardom

The Nolans made their first ever television appearance on a 1974 episode of It’s Cliff Richard.

In the year before their debut single But I Do was released, the sisters all performed Stuck on You.

The pair were reunited on Loose Women, where Sir Cliff treated fans to an impromptu concert.

She had an abortion as a teen

Coleen was 16-years-old, she lost her virginity to 23-year-old keyboard player Robin Smith and fell pregnant soon after.

In her autobiography, she revealed: “Intuitively I’d known I was pregnant…

“I knew I had to do something – ignoring things would just make everything worse.”

Coleen and Robin decided to secretly arrange an abortion, and the pair both went to a private doctor in Harley Street for the procedure.

Coleen didn’t cry when her abusive father passed away

The Loose Women panellist laid the relationship with her dad Tommy Nolan bare in her during an episode of In Therapy.

She said: “He was a horrible drunk, he’d just become very aggressive and scary… I couldn’t bear it.”

Her autobiography also explains: “Dad passed away, aged 73. The news left me winded but I didn’t cry.

“But I also loved him. Perhaps that shows how unconditional a child’s love is.”

She felt ELATED when she found out about Shane Richie’s affair

Coleen’s first husband was Shane Richie, who she was married to for nine years until their split in 1999.

Surprisingly, in an Channel 5 episode of In Therapy, the singer confessed that she was happy when her husband’s affair came to light.

Coleen said: "He was so brilliant at convincing me I was wrong...

"He would look me right in the eyes... and convince me I was wrong. He made me feel paranoid.

"I remember that feeling of elation when I found out [he was having an affair].. I went 'Yes! I knew it...'

"It was a feeling of euphoria before the absolute devastation hit me – he still convinced me to stay."

Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson nearly became her daughter-in-law

It looked like Coleen could have become Mummy Mix last year, as her son was engaged to girlband member Jesy Nelson.

Sadly, it wasn’t to be, as Jesy’s relationship with Rixton front man Jake Roche broke down and the pair split.

Despite all the rumours, Coleen insisted that the duo were still friends.

She could have lived a previous life

In 2005, Coleen appeared in the first series of ITV show Have I Been Here Before?

Philip Schofield hosted the show which gave celebrity guests the chance to see if they had lived any previous lives.

Therapist Andrea Foulkes carried out the regression, claiming that Coleen’s past life alter-ego was a “nervous 16-year-old debutante”.

Coleen believes a psychic foretold the death of her sister

The Loose Women star revealed that a tarot card reader had predicted her sister’s death a year before it happened.

Irish actress Bernie Nolan passed away from cancer in 2013 aged 52, after previously beating the disease.

The TV presenter confessed she visited the psychic during a holiday in the US and she predicted every detail of her sibling’s demise.

She knows how to twerk

In 2016, Loose Women viewers praised Coleen for getting stuck into a TWERKERCISE class.

The bubbly panellist couldn’t hide her smile as she jiggled her booty up and down with her personal trainer Dan Hooper.
