BBC star Chris Packham tailed by bodyguard after receiving chilling ‘we want you dead’ death threats

One person even threatened to poison the star

BBC star Chris Packham has been assigned a bodyguard after receiving a string of terrifying messages.

The Winterwatch presenter has been the victim of threats several times over the years and even had dead crows strung up outside his home and a car firebombed by his front gates.

Speaking to , Packham said: “A couple of times recently, before the Watches, we’ve had specific threats for me.

“So we’ve had a person who’s there and stays at the hotel, and then goes with me to the place.”

One of the threats received by Packham - who has been hounded for his support for Just Stop Oil protestors - read: "We know where you live Packham and will get you some way or another.

"You are a **** and a nasty piece of work so be very, very careful.

"We want you dead and we will succeed. R.T.A? Poison there are numerous ways we will succeed.

"We can wait our time. 6 months, 12 months, no problem for us as long as you ******* die. That's all what matters."

Another chilling note read "we want you dead".

Most of the messages reach Chris through email which he thinks is "unbelievable" as he now has their email address to send to the police.

He said: “They (the police) know who these people are – ish. They don’t know precisely which person it is but they said that sometimes these things play out over a couple of years."

Despite the messages Chris appeared in good spirits on last night's show as he joked with co presenter Michaela Strachan about "going for the full five layers" of clothing to fend off the cold.

The pair appeared in the RSPB reserve in Arne, Dorset, and delighted viewers with clips of a fox exploring the forest and a buzzard enjoying a feast.
