Russell Brand angers neighbours by trying to convert historic pub into offices
RUSSELL Brand has angered his neighbours by trying to convert his historic pub into offices and a recording studio.
About 50 villagers and organisations objected to the controversial comedian’s proposals during a public consultation.
Brand bought the 17th century Crown Inn in Pishill, near Henley-on-Thames, in 2020.
Council clerk Pat Pearce said Brand had promised not to submit plans until a public consultation was held.
On behalf of the council, she added: “This never took place.
"The applicant has never opened the premises, so they cannot prove that it is not viable.

"It has previously been a thriving public house and restaurant, with the barn being used as a successful wedding and party venue.
"We fail to see why this cannot be achieved again with the correct dedication and commitment."
David Cooper from the South Oxfordshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale claimed the village would lose an "essential community facility".
The dispute comes months after four women accused Brand, 48, of rape and sexual assault — claims which he denies.
