GEORGE Michael's family has reportedly been plagued by tragedy over the years as both his uncle and grandfather took their own lives.

The singer, who was found dead on Christmas Day, is believed to have been terrified that history would repeat itself.

George's uncle Colin is said to have taken his own life by gassing himself on the same day the singer was born in 1963.

The death of Colin, who is believed to have been secretly gay, sparked a further family tragedy as George's heartbroken granddad killed himself just days later.

George previously admitted the family's dark secrets made him reluctant to come out as gay to his loved ones.

According to to , in a 2007 interview, he said: "They’d both put their heads in the gas oven. And, lucky old mum, she found both of them...

"My mother had this fear of me being gay.

"She had this definite fear that I was going to be like her brother.

"She thought it meant I wouldn’t cope with life."

George was found dead at his home in Goring-on-Thames by his reported boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, 40.

The grim discovery was made on Christmas Day and sent the country into mourning.

The story took a new twist last week when a series of posts appeared on Fawaz's Twitter page claiming the pop star had “tried to kill himself many times” and “finally managed” it.

Fawaz later insisted his account had been hacked, and he deleted the messages before shutting down his page.

He told : “I am shocked with what’s going on with the Twitter thing. My Twitter account has been hacked and closed.

It’s a bit scary to be honest. I did not send those tweets. I woke up at 11.30am to the news. I am not going to worry about these things.”

The tweets stated: “Not sure who that nasty close friend of George (sic) but i was in a relationship with George Michael till i found him dead in bed.

“The only thing George wanted is to die. He tried numbers of times to kill himself many times and finally he managed.

“We loved each other very much and were together almost 24 hours a day.”

Last week it was reported that George was struggling to cope after losing the voice that made him a world-famous star.

The pop legend is said to have lost 20 per cent of his lung capacity after contracting pneumonia in 2011 and was devastated to find it had reduced his ability to sing.

His vocal problems may have scuppered his plans for a comeback in 2017 – tearing the performer apart.

The star’s official cause of death remains unclear after a post-mortem proved “inconclusive”.
