The One Show blunder leaves pregnant Alex Jones in fits of nervous giggles as she believes audience member is dead

The miscommunication came during a segment involving co-host Matt Baker, comedian Jack Whitehall and an award winning gravedigger.

While discussing the guest’s profession, digger David said: “You’ve got to dress it nice and put flowers in it and generally just try to do the best job you can.”

It was only when he was quizzed how many graves he dug last year that the interview fell apart.

As Dave responded: “About 320… My Mum,” he was interrupted by a gasp from Alex as she believed he was talking about digging his mother’s grave.

Despite quickly adding: “I’ve got my mum here!” and pointing her out in the audience – his unfortunate lack of breathe between his previous sentences had Alex and Jack in fits of relieved giggles.

“She’s alive! It’s all fine!” Alex exclaimed.

Jack proceeded to cover his face while struggling to contain his laughter.

Matt then tried to move the show on – but Alex couldn’t contain her continued giggles.

He said to his co-host: “Let’s all calm down and carry on.”
