George Michael made secret visits to the mother of his first love who tragically died of Aids in 1991
Anselmo’s death aged 33 broke George’s heart and inspired him to write No1 single Jesus To A Child in tribute
CARING George Michael made secret visits to the mother of his tragic first love at her mountain home in Brazil.
George dated Alice Feleppo’s son Anselmo from 1991 until his death from Aids two years later.
And yesterday she described George as “like a son”.
Alice, 89, said: “My love for him is very deep. If this hadn’t happened to Anselmo they’d have been together today.
“Even after my son died, he still treated me like his mother-in-law. He was a wonderful person.”
Alice was told of George’s death hours before it was made public.
She added that she will miss his visits to her in Petropolis, a mountain town outside Rio.
George met dress designer Anselmo after spotting him in the crowd while performing in the Rock in Rio festival and later said: “This was the first love of my life.”
Anselmo’s death aged 33 broke George’s heart and inspired him to write No1 single Jesus To A Child in tribute.
