'MISS ME?'

Sherlock spoiler: Moriarty is back with a chilling cryptic warning for Sherlock in new teaser trailer

The detective’s long-dead nemesis is back and it seems he's in the mood for some seriously creepy games

SHERLOCK Holmes is in for a shock at the beginning of series four as his nemesis Moriarty returns.

Although this happened briefly in series three, when the evil professor's face kept appearing on social media, his comeback at the start of series four is far more chilling.

As the teaser clips shows off a bustling Piccadilly Circus in London, out of nowhere Moriarty’s face pops up on the big screen with the words: “Miss me?”

The freaky video is sure to give Sherlock a headache, as he watched Moriarty shoot himself over two years ago during The Reichenbach Fall.

Fans will be kept in suspense as to whether Moriarty has really returned however, as it this could all be the work of Sherlock’s latest enemy, Culverton Smith.

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch teased fans earlier this month, telling them: “We're getting pay-offs in this series that are to do with how this began.

Alongside the ‘return’ of Moriarty, series four will introduce the child of John, played by Martin Freeman, and his wife Mary(Amanda Abbington).

Creator Stephen Moffatt said of the storyline: “The big one was, well, what would it be like if John had a child, and without being too Three Men and a Baby about it, it obviously changes things.

The first episode of the show, called The Six Thatchers, airs on New Year Day and in the first scene, Sherlock is seen wrinkling his nose in disgust as he’s introduced to John and Mary’s baby.

There will be a three episode run this series, with Toby Jones joining as villainous Culverston.

Rumours also suggest that the other Holmes brother — Sherrinford — might pay a visit to Baker Street in the new series.

Sherlock returns on Sunday, January 1, 2017 on BBC One.
