But he had not seen him in over ten years after George and Andros fell out following the star’s lewd behaviour arrest.

James, 24, now a US reality star, said: “He was like a second dad but we never really got to talk again, which is heartbreaking.”

“That really upset me the most. I always thought that once I get older, make a little money to travel myself I could just go find him.

“It was a matter of people being stubborn and thinking there was more time then there actually is.

“I know he was sick for a while. I was crying all night when I heard the news. He is a legend and he touched everyone with his music. I love him and I’ll always love him.

“He was a massive inspiration - the way he moved, the way he dressed, the way he danced, wrote. Just everything about George was incredible.”

Faith singer George - who grew up very close to Andros - was godfather to both James, 24, and his younger brother Harry, 22.

DJ James showed off snaps of him and smitten George at Christmas time when he was aged six – after the chart-topper bought him a rocking horse and Barney the dinosaur.

James said: “That was in our house in Hampstead. He would spend every Christmas with us till the age of about ten and then we moved.

“He got me a rocking horse and that Barney the dinosaur that year.

“He was great - I used to call him uncle George. He was like a second dad - he was family. He wasn’t George Michael to me, it was family.

“His Christmas song would be playing in the kitchen when we were there and I didn’t even know it was him. It was always fun when George was there.

“He would always bring the best presents. His energy really set the tone for our family.”

George, also godfather to his brother Harry, 22, was best man at the wedding of Andros, 54, and their mum Jackie, 47.

She revealed last year George was hooked on crack cocaine.
