Over their decade-long stint, Girls Aloud racked up millions of sales, Brit award nominations and four number ones.

Their 2013 break-up sparked a major feud between the bandmates that left their friendship in tatters.

Here we look at their fiery history including fall-outs with bandmates and other celebs.

Nadine Vs Cheryl

After the band split in 2013 things soon turned toxic when Nadine Coyle publicly distanced herself from the break-up.

Taking to X, formerly known a Twitter, she wrote: “You should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn't stop them. I had the best time and want to keep going.”

Cheryl quickly slammed her claims, saying Nadine was "full of s***" and had asked for a break in 2009 which led to the band's demise.

She added: "She was the one who wanted to make a solo record. Which is why we took the hiatus. She wants to come out and say we broke the band up? No! She shouldn’t tell porkie pies.

“Okay, so do you want us to tell the truth? She wasn’t going to make another Girls Aloud record until she got a solo deal. I feel she held us to ransom and then made her solo record deal.

"It’s the truth. She’s saying that we broke the band up. So, there you go."

After seven years, Nadine revealed that Cheryl had reached out to her in 2020, and they were back on “cordial” terms.

"We’re not best mates, it’s just the way it’s always been,” she said.

“I’m very close to a lot of people from my time in the band, like our hair and make-up people and the dancers, but you gravitate towards the people that you have stuff in common with."

Louis Walsh

Louis Walsh has never been one to hide his true feelings.

Back in the early 2000s, the X Factor judge labelled all the members of Girls Aloud as "fat".

Lifting the lid on his harsh jibe, Kimberley explained that Louis walked onto the set of their music video and applauded them all for "not being fat anymore" in 2004.

In a 2017 interview, she revealed: "We were doing our video for Love Machine in 2004 and Louis Walsh waltzed in and said to us, "Oh, none of you are fat any more. Brilliant, that’s great".

"Obviously in Louis’ head he did have an issue with some of our sizes but I think he learnt from Nigel and thought best not to comment in public - but he did in private.

“That was the first time I thought, ‘OK maybe my weight is an issue’.”

Louis responded to his comments to the singers insisting that he "would do it again" if he had to.

“With Girls Aloud, at the start I told them they had to lose a bit of weight. I know I said it in so many words. But they did and they look amazing.

“I did it because they were competing with the Spice Girls. If it were now, I would still say it. I would tell them in a nice way. You have to be honest," Louis explained.

Lily Allen

In 2006 Lily released a song called Cheryl Tweedy - but rather than be flattered by the song, the ex-wag called the singer a "chick with a d**k".

In response to this, Lily wrote a fierce open letter to Cheryl on her Myspace page.

The letter said: “Cheryl if you're reading this, I may not be as pretty as you but at least I write and SING my own songs without the aid of autotune.

"I must say taking your clothes off, doing sexy dancing and marrying a rich footballer must be very gratifying, your mother must be so proud, stupid b****.”

A few years later, Lily told a French magazine that Cheryl "represents everything she hates" and is "stupid and superficial".

Pussycat Dolls

In a 2006 interview, Cheryl insisted the Pussycat Doll, fronted by Nicole Scherzinger, aren't really a proper group as it's just a frontwoman surrounded by backing dancers.

She said: "You never get a chance to hear any one else so you just assume she is [the vocal talent].

"Apart from that girl that really annoys me that goes 'meeehhh' all the time. You never really hear anybody else..."

She added that Ashley Roberts, Carmit Bachar, Jessica Suta, and Kimberly Wyatt, are good dancers and that they can put on a good show.

Cheryl continued: "When you've got dancers like that, the performances are alike just like wow, it's like breathtaking."

Her bandmate Nicola Roberts then added: "I'd like to hear them all sing," with Cheryl responding: "I don't think they can, I think they are more dancers."

When asked if Nicole would make a successful solo artist, Cheryl insisted the singer doesn't "stand out at all".

She explained: "I don't know if she could [cut it going solo].

"You're up against so many fantastic solo artist out there - Beyonce , Christina, Britney, can you keep up with that?...

Not speaking

The pair had reportedly not been on speaking terms after the groups split in March 2013.

It is not known what exactly went down between the two, but Nadine opened up about the band's awkwardness, telling The Sun that “people” were “very bitter.”

She said: “It was fine at the start but there’s always politics in any band. It just happened that I always got more vocals than everybody else, so in terms of people wanting their voice heard, that wasn’t happening.

“It made people very bitter. They didn’t like that. It’s so sad for me to have to admit this stuff now because for so long, there’s the band, and you want everybody to think we’re best friends and we have pillow fights and, you know, drink milkshakes.

“That’s what I wanted it to be. I really, really wanted that to be, but it just wasn’t how it was. We’re all very, very different characters.”
