THE last pictures of George Michael show the star looking drawn and tired.
George died aged 53 at his home in Oxfordshire on Christmas Day.
A statement from his publicist said: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.
“The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time.
“There will be no further comment at this stage.”
Michael's longtime manager Michael Lippman reportedly told Billboard cause of death was believed to be heart failure.
In September, George was pictured out in public for the final time at a restaurant close to his home in Goring, Oxfordshire.
He sat late into the evening with them, choosing an outside table to enjoy the balmy weather.
In the pictures, the singer appeared to have put on weight and looked tired while talking with his pals.
George Michael was hailed as one of the greatest British musicians of all time – selling over 80 million records worldwide.
He rose to fame alongside Andrew Ridgley after they formed 1980s hit band Wham.
Andrew paid tribute to George after his death and told him he would love him forever.
Just weeks prior to his tragic death, British music producer Naughty Boy revealed Michael had been working on new music.
Tributes have been paid to the star, whose hits included Club Tropicana, Freedom, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, and Careless Whisper - which launched his solo career.
Tony Blackburn tweeted: "Unbelievable, George Michael has died at the age of 53. RIP.This dreadful year goes on and on.So sad, a real talent."
Duran Duran posted: "2016 - loss of another talented soul. All our love and sympathy to @GeorgeMichaels family."
Ricky Gervais added: "Unbelievable. RIP George Michael."
