Coleen Rooney reveals bizarre place Wayne asked her to marry him in new book
WAYNE Rooney asked Coleen to marry him after pulling in to an Esso petrol station, she revealed.
His wife admitted: “It wasn’t the most romantic of proposals.
"He couldn’t get down on one knee — there’s not room in a car footwell.”
The former striker popped the question on October 1, 2003, when the childhood sweethearts were 17.
He had planned to do it over dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Croxteth, Liverpool.
But they postponed the meal after a tiff put Coleen “in a mood”.

She reveals in her book Wayne told her: “I was going to do this…”
And handed her a huge diamond engagement ring.
She said: “I hadn’t expected Wayne to pop the question under the lights of an Esso garage.
“It’s not the image a girl conjures up when she thinks about a marriage proposal as a rule.”
