They also took part in the 2008 series, during which they made friends with Sharknado's Tara Reid.

How did they do on The X Factor and what happened to them after the show?

Jedward were described by Simon Cowell as "not very good and incredibly annoying" when auditioned for The X Factor in 2009.

But thanks mainly to Irish guest judge Louis Walsh, the boys made it through to the final 12 contestants and the live shows, much to many viewers' dismay.

They managed to come third and were immediately taken on by Walsh, before releasing their debut single, a mash-up of David Bowie and Freddie Mercury's Under pressure and Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby.

A very successful tour of Ireland followed plus an ITV2 documentary called Jedward: Let Loose.

To date the twins have released three albums (Planet Jedward, Victory and Young Love), the first two of which went double platinum in Ireland, plus nine singles.

They have also fronted TV shows Jedward's Big Adventure and OMG! Jedward's Dream Factory, while making cameos in Keith Lemon: The Film and Sharknado 3.

Will they star on ITV's The Next GenerationThe X Factor: All Stars?

It's being rumoured that Jedward had been approached with an offer to join The X Factor: All Stars.

If it's true, this would the first time in 10 years that Jedward would have graced the X Factor stage as a contestant again.

The list of names rumoured to be taking part in the forthcoming series includes Leona Lewis, Wagner and Shayne Ward.

While ITV have yet to announce an official start date, the talent show could very well be back once Britain's Got Talent: The Champions concludes in September.

What is Jedward's background and what is their net worth?

Jedward are a performing duo made up of twins Edward and John Grimes, born in Dublin on October 16, 1991.

The 27-year-olds are nearly identical in appearance, but John is one inch taller than Edward and has a scar above his left eyebrow and nose.

But it's their heir matching, gravity-defying hairstyles that we know them for best.

During their youth the brothers loved Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys.

This led them to form a singing duo in 2008 called John & Edward, and they decided to help people tell them apart by always having John stand on the left.

In their youth they were also keen athletes and briefly worked as games testers for Microsoft.

A decade on from that job and the twins have been hailed the fifth most successful former X Factor contestants in monetary terms.

Their estimated joint worth is currently £5.7m.

When did Jedward's mum pass away?

On February 15, 2019 Jedward revealed their mum had died after a long battle with cancer.

The twins took to Twitter this morning to share the sad news their mother Susanna has passed away.

Taking to Twitter, they wrote: "Rest In Peace Mammy, you live on through us.

"We will miss you and your smile.

"You shaped the character of who we are.

"Mammy lived with cancer for many years but was always full of life!

"You live on in our Memories and will always be alive in our Hearts."

When did Jedward take part in The Eurovision Song Contest?

Edward and John first represented home nation Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, belting out a song called Lipstick.

They came eighth in the final with 119 points, beating the UK's Blue.

But that taste of Eurovision wasn't enough for them as they returned to the stage in 2012 with a song called Waterline, no doubt a deliberate riff on ABBA's winning track Waterloo.

Their performance included dancing around, and in, a giant fountain, but the amount of liquid involved did not win them any more points.

In fact they scored just 46 points and came 19th, though they did much better than UK entry by Engelbert Humperdinck which came 25th.
