The film is based on a novel of the same name by Nick Tosches.

Butler will star alongside fellow Hollywood icons like Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot, with legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese serving as an executive producer.

During the film shoot in the Italian capital, Butler was spotted sporting a brand new look - worlds away from his hunky persona.

The Scots actor was spotted with a blond wig, with inch-long brown roots.

While in character, Butler was wearing a grey suit, a open-collar black shirt and Chelsea boots.

Underneath the black shirt was a white vest, the look was finished off with a gold cross necklace.

Back in August, Butler delighted fans as he popped into a popular Glasgow restaurant.

The actor dropped into Old Salty's on Byres Road in the west end of the city and chatted with fans and staff as he enjoyed a "wee coffee" at the gastro chippie.

And last month, took a trip into Taylor Ferguson's salon located in Glasgow's Bath Street.

Butler was seen hugging the workers, with his arms around them as they all posed for the camera.

Taylor Ferguson himself took to Facebook where he posted several pictures of staff with Butler.
