This Morning’s Ruth Langsford and husband Eamonn Holmes disrupt live show with tiff over the Christmas he didn’t buy her any presents
THIS Morning co-hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes disrupted Tuesday's live show with a lovers' tiff about the Christmas he failed to purchase his wife any presents.
The 56-year-old appeared seriously unimpressed as Eamonn, 57, reminded her of the year he simply offered her some cash instead.
Talking on the show about the most wonderful time of the year, Eamonn said: “Remember the year when I said I didn’t have time to buy you anything so could I just give you money instead?”
Ruth responded icily: “You don’t want to remember that year, do you? We didn’t speak for three days. It wasn't okay.”
Her husband then replied: “Although you said it was okay, it very much wasn’t okay. Like most men I was under huge pressure.”
The TV favourite wasn’t ready to accept her husband’s excuses, adding: “Like most men? What? Women aren’t under huge pressure at Christmas?”
Ruth then mocked “lazy” men who leave their gift buying until Christmas Eve as they “can’t be bothered”.
Abruptly ending their tiff, Eamonn interrupted: “Anyway I’ve just been told we’re a minute over so here is the fashion segment.”
Despite their Christmas drama, Eamonn and Ruth have one of the strongest relationships in showbiz.
The pair have been together for 21 years, wed in 2010 and have 14-year-old son Jack.
Earlier this year, Ruth vowed she'd never leave her husband as it would cause too much distress for their dog Maggie.
As they attempted to see who the dog loved more by standing on opposite sides of the studio, Ruth joked: "We can’t ever split up because she was very torn."
Eamonn responded: “Torn between two lovers…. You bribed her with biscuits or something.”
