Britney Spears says fame left her living on a cliff edge in explosive first extracts from tell-all book
AFTER decades in the public eye, Britney Spears has said she hates being famous.
The Gimme More singer said she is envious of those who “make fame work”.
The admission comes in the first extract from her upcoming biography The Woman In Me.
In the teaser for the book, Britney says: “I envy people who know how to make fame work.
“My demeanour was innocent.
“It wasn’t an act. I didn’t know what I was doing.”

She adds of the Free Britney movement which helped end her 13-year conservatorship which ruled her life: “If you stood up for me when I couldn’t stand up for myself, thank you.”
The book, out on October 24, will be the first time Britney has spilled the beans, having turned down countless lucrative deals for interviews, including with US talk show legend Oprah .
Five-time Oscar-nominee Michelle Williams will narrate the audio edition, with Britney recording an introduction.
Explaining the decision, Britney said: “This book has been a labour of love and all the emotions that come with it.
“Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching and emotional, to say the least.
“For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook.
“I am so grateful to the amazing Michelle Williams for reading the rest of it.”
Cardi parties hard
HER music career isn’t quite thriving right now but Cardi B doesn’t seem too fussed.
She released the lead single, Bongos, from her as-yet untitled second album, last month but it peaked at No35 and has already dropped out of the charts.
Cardi has plenty to celebrate away from the collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion though.
She shared this photo on Instagram during yet another night out, following a series of bashes to mark her 31st birthday last week.
The Wap rapper said: “From my birthday to today, every day has been a good day.
“But now, back to work and back to being a mother.”
Bernie hints at Elton gig
HIS Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour broke the record for the highest grossing run of gigs, with Sir Elton John raking in over £749million for the concerts.
But it won’t be the last we see of the Rocket Man singer, as his long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin has suggested it won’t be long until he’s back on stage.
Elton previously hinted he was considering a London residency and Bernie has teased it might not be far away.
He said: “I think people think because he’s retiring from touring, that he’s retiring.
“He’s certainly never going to tour again but if he decides, at some point, to do a residency close to home that would be fantastic because he can go home at night.”
The pair – who started working together in the late Sixties – are also still collaborating on new music.
Bernie said: “We both have our jobs.
“Mine is to write the words and his is to write the melody, and we never really step on each other’s toes.
“We know our place with each other.”
Tay tour a box office record
TAYLOR SWIFT has topped the box office here with her The Eras Tour movie and it is the highest-grossing event release ever after just three days in cinemas.
The movie, shot at her shows in the US, took £5.7million in its opening weekend.
That overtook the £5.5million for Jodie Cromer's Prima Facie, released by National Theatre Live last year.
The Eras Tour beat Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie to get the top spot at the box offict. The kids’ film took £1.3million.
In even more impressive news, Taylor’s is the tenth highest opening weekend out of all the movies released in 2023.
She will make even more cash from the tour itself when the UK leg starts next June.
THE nepo babies being thrust into the limelight are getting younger and younger, with Drake’s son launching a a music career on his sixth birthday.
Adonis Graham has released a basketball-themed video featuring his friends for the song My Man Freestyle, which racked up 350,000 views in 15 hours.

Howard's horror
TAKE THAT’s Howard Donald has doubled down on an apology to LGTBQ+ people and said his decision to like transphobic tweets back in June doesn’t “reflect the person that I am.”
The Shine singer was criticised after the posts were unearthed, particularly as they have a huge gay fanbase and because he had been due to perform at a Pride event in Nottingham, which he was later axed from.
Reflecting on the controversy, which led to him deleting his account, he said: “I meant what I said at the time when I apologised for it.
“Obviously I was very sorry to anyone that was offended.
“Those tweets don’t reflect the person that I am.
“And I’m all about love, positivity and being inclusive.
“I just want people to be who they want to be.”
Howard, who has been in Take That since 1990, went on to admit he struggles with the limelight and often feels like he isn’t worthy of being in the group alongside Gary Barlow and Mark Owen.
Speaking on the Happy Place podcast, he explained: “I struggle with fame, I really do.
“Sometimes I think that I’m not really worth it.
“It’s a weird feeling.
“The three of us got out the car the other day and there’s people waiting for us and I was saying to myself, ‘I wonder whether anyone wants to see me?’.

“It’s really sad, that, but I sometimes feel that I’m not worth it, about being in the band. I don’t know why.
“I do go through different motions of feeling confident and great, but there’s a lot of time where I don’t feel great about it and don’t feel ready for being thrust into the spotlight or on tour.”
