EastEnders Christmas trailer hints Lucy Beale could come back from the dead
The chilling clip hints that the murder victim at the centre of Walford's biggest witch hunt may not be gone after all
IAN Beale has never been the most fortunate resident of Albert Square - and it doesn't look like it's going to get any easier.
In the new trailer for the upcoming Christmas special, it looks like the Beales' Christmas will be anything but a happy, quiet, family affair after the chippy owner receives a gift signed by his dead daughter Lucy.
Has the troubled teen come back from the dead?
Lucy's body was found on Walford Common back in 2014 - and the family has been haunted by the aftermath ever since.
It was revealed in February 2015, the show's 30th anniversary show, that it was her little brother Bobby that killed his sister in a fit of rage in the Beale living room, with step-mum Jane helping move the body to protect him.
The blame eventually landed on Max Branning, who was sentenced for her murder after it was revealed he'd been having an affair with the much younger girl.
However, Max was released when Bobby's guilt was discovered - and he swore revenge on the family for knowingly letting him go down for the crime.
Their festive celebrations appear to begin cheerfully enough as Ian's mum Kathy pops open the bubbly, waking him up from his slumber, as she shouts "Merry Christmas!"
But later when the pair are seen in the kitchen Kathy asks what the note on the pudding said.
Ian lies, saying that it has been delivered to the wrong address and looks worried - and a close-up of the note says that it's from Lucy.
Max Branning could be behind the creepy festive present, considering the fact that actor Jake Wood, who plays the character, is making his big return to the soap on Christmas Day.
He has already previously sent Ian a threatening letter warning him that he'd never forget what he did.

The character, who was framed for the murder of Lucy, has already been revealed to be out for revenge.
Stacey Branning and her boyfriend Martin are also seen shocked after they receive a huge turkey as a gift with all the trimmings.
Could this be a thank you from Max to Stacey for being the one person who was convinced of his innocence?
The end of the trailer also sees someone sitting in a dark car, turning over the vehicle's key in his hand.
Very eerie indeed.
