BEC BRAINS GUEST

Becky Hill accidentally kicks her shoe into a man’s face during rowdy Attitude Awards performance

MOST people will have a headache after a night of boozing and dancing to loud music.

But one man in particular at the bash might have a sore bonce after Becky Hill accidentally kicked a shoe at his head mid performance.

She won the Music Award and took to the stage for a five-song set at the end of the ceremony.

She had a mishap when she kicked off her glittery silver heels while singing current hit single Disconnect.

She apologised and checked he was OK – and thankfully he was.

At the after-party, the victim told other guests he plays football a lot so is used to having things bouncing off his noggin, but he said he was desperate to meet Becky herself. Sadly she had already left.

I’m hoping that poor fella can be found and introduced to Becky to make up for the accidental injury.

I just hope his head wasn’t too sore when he woke up yesterday. But given there was a free bar, it’s likely that was inevitable. Becky used her acceptance speech earlier in the evening to hit out at Prime Minister Rishi Sunak following his negative comments about trans people at the Tory party conference.

The Side Effects singer identifies as queer and frequently performs with drag queens so said she felt strongly about the issue.

She explained: “My mission was to play a part in normalising queerness through music across the world, and it would seem that now more than ever it is so important, as Rishi Sunak wants to undo all of the hard work and fight we have had to do to protect our trans brothers and sisters and enbies.

“While this false rhetoric is being pushed around by our very own government, it is now more than ever that we must protect our trans family.”

PALOMA FAITH was on full fan-girl mode, getting as many selfies as she could.

The singer, who has just released her tune How You Leave A Man, dashed around and cuddled up to Dame Shirley Bassey and Boy George, among others.

She wore this red latex dress with a blonde wig for the bash, but missed the red carpet after arriving late.

Then she dashed out the door instead of staying for the after-party, as she was on ITV’s Lorraine first thing yesterday.

She will have got more kip than me . . .

LOVED up Maisie Smith and Max George want to land a show together – but it might end it tears.

She said at the bash: “That would be great entertainment.” But Max added: “It would just be us arguing.”

It sounds like they have good reason to row though, as they have had a stressful year. Maisie explained: “We’ve been renovating a house. It’s been a challenge.”

Max continued: “We lived in it for about six months then the downstairs got knocked down. We’re homeless.”

Maisie joked: “That’s why we’re on holiday so much, we haven’t got a kitchen.

“We’re like, ‘shall we just go to Dubai for the week?’ Just so we can have something to eat.”

AMANDA HOLDEN looked just like Barbie in this pink latex dress, but her co-host Alan Carr didn’t quite pass as Ken.

Instead he played the discontinued doll Alan, who is joked about in the Barbie movie.

They proved to be hilarious hosts on the night, opening the ceremony with the self-deprecating Barbie-themed skit.

Mocking his dodgy wig, Alan said: “That woman down there is going, ‘F*** me, Clare Balding’s put on weight’.”

He added: “These shorts are so tight, my k**b is poking up higher than Angela Rippon’s leg on Strictly.”

Very funny but just a little too much information, Alan.

STEPS are planning to extend their hiatus and don’t aim to reunite for another four years.

Ian “H” Watkins and Claire Richards were celebrating at the bash.

On the red carpet, H said: “The next milestone in our discography is our 30th anniversary. That’s in four years. Look, you’ve had enough of us. We’ve done five albums and six tours in the last six years. So we need a bit of time.”

He already has some ideas for what they could do to make their comeback extra special, though.

H said: “The top of my list would be to do a collab with Kylie. We could revisit Better The Devil. We’ve not got there yet.”

Beautiful moment as James gets beers in

JAMES BLUNT proved he was a man of the people at a low-key gig by sticking £2,000 behind the bar so his fans could have a drink or three on him.

The generous singer kept punters at London’s Omeara well-oiled during his show on Wednesday, where he performed his new song The Girl That Never Was for the first time.

James said: “Of all the audiences, you’ve definitely been one of the better in the world.”

Given James’s wife Sofia Wellesley was in the crowd, I’m not surprised he was being so complimentary.

The You’re Beautiful singer will head off on tour next spring, kicking off 12 dates in Leeds on March 30 before playing shows across the UK including in Nottingham, Cardiff, Bournemouth and Bristol.

Cheers, James – and thanks for the pints.

Eric explained: “Music has always been a part of my life.

“I’ve always had music playing. Why start today, so many years later? Simply because I had lacked the time before.”
