New shocking EastEnders Christmas trailer hints at Phil’s demise, Lee Carter’s torment and an ominous stalker

Ian Beale also has a nasty surprise when his murdered daughter sends him a gift beyond the grave...

A NEW EastEnders trailer has dropped - revealing that it will be a rather chilling Christmas for many residents on the square.

The majority of the video reveals continues to show Phil Mitchell's worsening condition as he appears haggered by his condition.

One scene shows him speak about noticing Denise, who is pregnant with his child, "looking at [him] from across the square".

Another reveals Jay trying to get a depressed Phil to fight, but he just comments that there's "nothing here" for him now.

Fans have speculated that his outlook could change after he finds out he will be a dad, but there have also been some hints that he could die on Christmas day.

Another scene shows Billy speaking to Sharon and telling her to "sit down", but as his partner Honey asks what's wrong he replies worriedly: "It's Phil."

A shot spans across showing Sharon sitting in a church as she remarks in the voiceover: "I'm nothing without him."

Also featuring heavily in the trailer is Lee Carter, played by Danny-Boy Hatchard, who we know will be exiting the soap in the coming weeks.

While the rest of the Carter seem cheery at the beginning as they celebrate Christmas, Lee certainly isn't.

The troubled man is later seen threatening his work bully to "make his excuses and get out" of the Queen Vic but he is sneered at.

He remarks: "I don't think you're in a position to be throwing your weight around, mate."

Lee grits his teeth: "I'm not your mate."

Another shot shows his dad talking to him about "secrets eating up" at someone - clearly making Lee think about everything he's been hiding over the last few months.

Earlier this month viewers were shocked that Lee had been revealed as the mastermind behind violent Queen Vic robbery that devastated his family.

Some reckon that all the secrets he has built up will push him to his limits and that he could commit suicide in a devastatingly tragic Christmas storyline.

His mum is also spotted sobbing in her husband Mick's arms as he tries to comfort her.

Ian Beale also receives a nasty surprise in the form of a gift - which says that it's from his dead daughter Lucy.

Considering the fact that Max Branning, who was framed for her murder, will be returning to the square on Christmas day it's likely that he had something to do with the eerie present.

And could Max also be the ominous mystery figure sitting in the car at the end of the trailer?

Roxy's reckless behaviour continues in the trailer as she's seen making her way across the square.

Ronnie, who will be killed off alongside her sister in the New Year, remarks in the voiceover: "You were out drinking all night in Christmas Eve, you were out drinking all of last night-"

Roxy interrupts: "I'm a waste of space, Ron, like Jack keeps on reminding me."

The pair are later also seen lying on the ground as they stare up at the sky.
